Honestly, we're kinda stumped. Harry & David is a brand we love! How did these wine clubs end up with such stinky ratings? Well, we think it comes down to a few things that are inherent in how we rate wine clubs here at WineClubReviews.net.
This is meant to be a "value" wine club, but really it's something we lovingly call "value-plus." It's not a wine club geared for wine connoisseurs or collectors, but it's a step above the every-day 2-bottles for $30ish a month wine club that dominates the market. This leaves it in an awkward place in our ratings system.
Ultimately its low rating comes down to its rigidity. The Harry & David World Wine Club doesn't give consumers the right to have a preference of red vs white, to ship on a schedule other than monthly, and doesn't have any customer input in their selection process. On top of all that, the prices are okay, but the quality-to-price ratio doesn't wow us AND they include shipping in all of their prices, including the Ongoing Subscription price.
They do give you a little bit of a price break if you buy their 6-bottle World Wine Club
All of that said, Harry & David is a brand we trust and we know that if you give this wine club as a gift to someone you care about, they will NOT be disappointed.

Enjoy the option of our two distinct Harry & David Food + Wine MerchantsSM Clubs: the World Wine club and the 90 Point Rated club. As a gift, you can send three or six bottles per month. We'll handle all the details and include your personal greetings. If you’re the wine enthusiast, choose three or six bottles, as well as deliveries for three, six or twelve months. For your convenience, you may order a continuous club with monthly billing to your credit card.
NOTE: Subsequent monthly club shipments usually ship during the 2nd or 3rd week of each month but no later than the 25th.
For Wine Club Month to Month orders, your credit card will be automatically charged for each shipment. Any scheduled or future delivery can be canceled at any time before shipment by calling 1-800-658-0135 weekdays 7am - 5pm PST. Also, the Month to Month Program may be canceled by the Wine Club at any time.
