What We Like

A unique offering in the value wine club market - a 4 bottle shipment and a 4-week or 8-week option based on how much wine you drink.

Improvements

The website doesn't provide the consumer with a lot of information about their wine club. We know because we called, but we'd like to see it right on the website.

We love their introductory offer and the free gift of the ever-so-popular waiter's corkscrew.

Previous Wine Selections

2008 Bridgman Chardonnay Classic well-rounded white from a classic producer.
Butterscotch, ripe apples, citrus, vanilla spice and tropical flavors explode on the palate while a long creamy finish balances all with mouth-cleansing acidity. This complexity is the result of oak fermentation, 90% mololactic fermentation, and extended lees contact.

2008 Willow Crest Pinot Gris
This aromatic, Alsatian-style wine exhibits beautiful full fruit aromas of ripe pear, honeydew melon, and peach followed by floral notes and a wonderful minerality. On the palate this wine is round and full with lush apricot flavors that are balanced nicely by the minerality and a touch of citrusy freshness. This wine is perfectly fine served chilled on a warm afternoon. You can also try pairing with foie grois topped with pear sauce, or a sweet and spicy Thai dish like coconut green curry with prawn.

2009 Granite Ridge Cabernet-Merlot Intriguing blend from South Africa with tasty results
South Africa winemakers often like to think they have the advantages of both the Old World and the New World. They have a southern climate but a winemaking tradition that extends for centuries. This provides Granite Ridge with a unique perspective. Their blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (73%) and Merlot (27%) illustrates a masterful combination of the Old and the New World. A pleasing minerality, characteristic of South Africa’s Stellenbosch region adds to an overall sense of structure and depth. This austerity meshes nicely with a more lively taste of ripe red fruit and cherries. Together, these flavors provide an extraordinary balance that promotes a wine the drinks astonishingly easy and is an absolute gem. The wine has a relatively high alcohol content of 14% so it is best paired with big foods; it deserves to be the star wine alongside whatever entree you serve tonight.

2007 New World Shiraz Easy-drinking Shiraz from South Africa
By the label alone, one can tell that this outstanding Shiraz aims to showcase some of the best features of New World South African winemaking. At the same time, they seek to get back to basics. Lamenting the overly artificial techniques used to “enhance” wine like higher residual sugar, added tannins and cheap oak, the New World winemakers aspired to create a great wine using natural and refined techniques. Without a doubt, they have succeeded. Coming from the premier South African region of Stellenbosch, the New World Shiraz is a balanced and extremely (perhaps dangerously!) drinkable wine. Their natural techniques unleash a wine that is full of unique flavors of spiciness and freshness. On that note, this Shiraz is best paired with a boldly flavored and fresh dinner... maybe stop by your local farmer’s market and put something together!
